Electrolysis Permanent Hair Removal
Effective on all skin tones and hair colors
Service Description
Unlike laser treatments, which offer permanent hair reduction, electrolysis uses a fine, sterile probe to deliver an electrical current directly into the hair follicle, destroying the growth center and the root. It is effective on all skin tones and hair colors, including blonde, red, gray, and white hair. Preparation (Pre-Treatment) To achieve the best results and maximize comfort, follow these steps in the days leading up to your session: Grow the Hair: Stop waxing, plucking, or threading for at least two to three weeks prior. Hairs must be approximately 2–3 mm (about 1/8 inch) long so the electrologist can grip them with tweezers. Hydrate Intensively: Drink plenty of water (around 2 liters) the day before and the day of your appointment. Hydrated follicles conduct electricity more efficiently, making the treatment more effective and comfortable. Avoid Stimulants: Refrain from caffeine, alcohol, and high-sugar intake for 24 hours before your session. These can increase skin sensitivity and anxiety levels. Skin Care: Discontinue use of retinoids, AHAs/BHAs, and harsh exfoliants for at least one week before treatment. Arrive with clean, freshly showered skin free of makeup, lotions, or deodorants. Pain Management: You may apply a topical numbing cream (like EMLA or lidocaine) 45–60 minutes before your appointment if the treatment area is particularly sensitive. The Procedure Duration: Sessions typically last between 15 and 60 minutes, depending on the size of the area. Sensation: Most describe the feeling as a quick "pinprick," "bee sting," or "tingling" sensation. Method: The electrologist will use one of three techniques: Thermolysis (heat), Galvanic (chemical reaction), or a Blend of both. After the follicle is treated, the hair is gently lifted out with tweezers. Aftercare (Post-Treatment) Your follicles remain open and vulnerable to bacteria for 24 to 48 hours after treatment. Proper hygiene is critical: Keep it Clean: Do not touch, scratch, or rub the treated area. Wash gently with a fragrance-free cleanser and lukewarm water, then pat dry with a clean tissue. Soothe the Skin: Apply pure Aloe Vera gel or Witch Hazel to reduce redness and inflammation. You can keep your Aloe Vera in the fridge for a more cooling effect. Avoid Irritants: For at least 48 hours, stay away from: Makeup, perfumed lotions, and alcohol-based products. Excessive heat, such as hot showers, saunas, and steam rooms. Vigorous exercise that causes heavy sweating.
